Sensational Kids is seeking expressions of interest from candidates who are interested in becoming voluntary board members or from those who have experience/qualifications to take on the role of company secretary.  These roles are available due to the rotation of board members at the end of their terms as well as additional roles to strengthen the existing team. 

We are also interested in recruiting board members in the Kildare, Cork and Mayo areas who can attend or skype into meetings which are held in Kildare. 

Sensational Kids is seeking board members who have experience in Social Enterprise Development during periods of growth and scaling. The ideal candidate should have an interest in and knowledge of the social enterprise sector.

We are interested in hearing from candidates who have experience in:

Social Enterprise Development

Fundraising Strategy

Retail Development

Finance/Accounting

Corporate Governance

Clinical Governance: which may be interest to those who have qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Play Therapy or Psychology. 

Legal Qualifications

Health & Safety

Company Secretary Qualifications (may or may not be a board member for this role)

About Us:

Sensational Kids is an award-winning social enterprise providing affordable and accessible early intervention services for the 1 in 4 children in Ireland with special educational needs such as those with autism, down syndrome, adhd, dyspraxia, dyslexia and sensory processing disorders.

To date Sensational Kids has delivered better outcomes for 5,000+ children with additional needs at its child development centres which are located in Kildare Town and Clonakilty. Sensational Kids bridges the gap between public and private intervention for children who are public waiting lists for vital supports such as occupational therapy, speech & language therapy and play therapy.

With services in huge demand, Sensational Kids is opening another child development centre in Connacht in 2019 and has just launched an innovative hippotherapy service for children with additional needs, combining the use of occupational therapy with the movement of a horse to deliver life changing impacts.

Based on an innovative Social Enterprise model, Sensational Kids also runs Ireland’s only child development & learning store that is run as a social enterprise to subsidise the cost of early intervention services for children.

In addition, Sensational Kids provides a range of continuous professional development training workshops for educators and therapy professionals. All proceeds from these training workshops are ploughed back into the organisation.

Sensational Kids is signed up the Governance Code as a Type C organisation and has made considerable progress on the journey to completion.

These posts are to replace rotating board members who will be retiring at the end of their term in Spring 2019. 

Length  of term:

3 years, up to a maximum of 3 terms

Meeting Locations:

Meetings take place in Kildare. 
We are also interested in recruiting board members in the Cork and Mayo areas who can skype into meetings.

Time Commitment:

6 – 8 meetings per year
