Educational Psychological Assessments 

An Educational Psychological Assessment may be required if your child is struggling to keep up in school. An educational psychological assessment is required to determine a child's needs for additional resources in school such as assistive technology, special needs assistants, resource hours, or for accommodations during exams in secondary school. An educational psychologist assesses a child's IQ and cognitive (intellectual) functioning. The assessment is the assessment required to assess for dyslexia or to assist occupational therapists to confirm a diagnosis of dyspraxia / DCD.

Sensational Kids "Support Me" Parent Support Group

‘Support Me’ is a monthly parent centred group set up to support parents of children with extra needs. Parenting a child with extra needs can be rewarding, exhausting, challenging, frustrating, and heart warming. It can be a roller coaster.

Sensational Kids ‘Support Me’ group offers parents a place to meet other parents who can share hope, insights, tips and experience of accessing services. ‘Support Me’ offers parents a space to problem solve and encourage each other.

Our Transition To Secondary School Group  aims to address the difficulties that young people with special educational needs face when they transition from primary school to secondary school.

Open to children of all abilities, this programme helps to prepare students for the change to that they have the skills to adapt to life in secondary school.

Orthoscopics at Sensational Kids

Orthoscopic assessments are available at Sensational Kids to determine if the use of coloured lenses can assist with visual stress. Often children who see words and letters moving around a page or who report difficulty seeing faces benefit from wearing coloured lenses. An orthoscopic assessment determines the exact colour lenses required to alleviate the symptoms

The Wipe Out Worries (WOW) programme run by play therapists is an exciting 8 week group programme for children who are experiencing stress, anxiety and worry.

The program aims to help children develop coping strategies and practice self-calming strategies.

Keyboarding Classes For Children With Special Educational Needs

Sensational Kids is starting keyboarding lessons for children with special educational needs who use laptops in school and who need help to learn how to type efficiently.


This group will be run by our occupational therapy team who have received training in the use of the Keyboarding Without Tears programme, which will be used during these classes.
