Effective ways of working with children who struggle to read, write and spell
There are three books in the Dyslexia Matters series. Taken together, these offer a rich and important foundation constructed of phonemes, phonological awareness and general phonics knowledge – in a nutshell, they cover all the basic sounds for spelling and reading a child needs.
So that children can grasp the patterns and connections between phonemes, it is best to work through the books in order.
However, you may find you only need to work according to age-levelled patterns. In that case:
- Book 1 is aimed at 5- to 7-year-olds
- Book 2 is aimed at 7- to 9-year-olds
