Eavan Rooney, Director of Thrive Occupational Therapy announces that Sensational Kids will become the new owners from March 1st.
Thrive Occupational Therapy is a highly specialised therapy practice which has been providing specialist Occupational Therapy services to children and adolescents of Monaghan and many other counties since 2014. Located in the centre of Clones, Co Monaghan, this fantastic custom-built clinic offers access to individual assessment or therapeutic intervention as well as education and training services from a highly specialised paediatric occupational therapy team. The current owner Eavan Rooney has very generously donated the clinic to Sensational Kids, a non-profit charitable organisation, who will take ownership from 1st March 2020.
“It is with mixed emotions that I announce that I have made the decision to step away from Thrive; both as Clinical Director and Manager, and as Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist. It is with a heavy heart that I leave these roles, however after over five years in business, I feel that this is the right time for me, both personally and professionally” Eavan Rooney, Director of Thrive OT says.
Eavan explained that “Thrive OT will be taken over by the highly reputable and well-established national organisation “Sensational Kids”. Sensational Kids is an award-winning non-profit child development clinic that provides multi-disciplinary services including Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy and Educational Psychology to children and young people. Sensational Kids has already changed the lives of over 6,000 children in Ireland in its Kildare, West Cork and Mayo locations. I am excited to announce that they will now be bringing their services to Monaghan and bordering counties”.
Eavan added “I set up Thrive in 2014 out of sympathy, care, ambition, and a genuine love for my job. I wanted to give the children and families of my local area a specialised therapy service of the highest quality. They deserved it then and they still deserve it today. I didn’t anticipate the growth of the service nor the speed of growth; Thrive OT became the second largest Occupational Therapy clinic in Ireland and has served children from all over the country. I leave Thrive OT feeling very proud of what I have accomplished and grateful to have had the opportunity to have met and have worked with so many incredible children and young people, parents and carers, teachers and SNAs, and other professionals. My decision has been made easier knowing that I will be handing the service over to the extremely caring and capable hands of Sensational Kids. I feel strong confidence and reassurance knowing that Sensational Kids upholds the same values as Thrive and shares the same passion and commitment to helping children and young people reach their potential. I am delighted that there will continue to be services provided to children and families and I think Sensational Kids will be brilliant for not only Monaghan, but for the whole of the North East.”
Karen Leigh, Founder & CEO, Sensational Kids says: “We see first-hand the effect that delayed support can have on children’s lives and their future. Timely intervention is key. Sensational Kids provides an accessible, and affordable service for those in need. We provide vital frontline therapeutic supports for children of all abilities, ensuring that these children have access to vital supports when and where they need them. As a not for profit, we rely on the community’s help to continue to provide our therapy services and we are so grateful for the support of our local community to help our children in need. I would especially like to thank the owner of Thrive Occupational Therapy, Eavan Rooney, for her kindness and support to ensure that children in Monaghan and the surrounding areas will continue to have access to vital therapy supports. We are really looking forward to continuing the great work of Thrive OT and to making a difference to the lives of many children”
Finally, Eavan adds “I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone whom I have had the pleasure of working with over the past six years; from the incredible children and parents, carers, teachers, SNAs, other professionals. It was a challenging journey but so rewarding. I leave with wonderful memories that I will cherish for a long time”.
